What are the similarities of Ms Word and Excel? What is Powerpoint? Are these programs Interchangeable?

What is each program used for? Are they interchangable? What is MS Powerpoint used for? Is that interchangeable with word and excel? why? whynot? What are the similarities of Ms Word and Excel? What is Powerpoint? Are these programs Interchangeable?
to make it simple for you, No. They are not interchangeable. Word is used for writing up 'Text' Documents. Text Reports, Essays, Books etc.

Excel is used for managing data. and not just it, There is so much more that it can do. Its a powerful application. it can communicate with third party programs. Import and export data. you can define formulas in its cells and it can perform calculations using the data that you import and give you final results. It is used to manage huge data bases.

The similarities between word an excel. None realy. what you can say is there are some things common between the two programs. e.g. a chart created in Excel can be used in a word document and vise versa. Similarly a table created in word or Excel can be used in either of the documents.

Powerpoints primary purpose is to make presentations using text, tables, charts and trends etc. a power point document consists of slides. We can use various animations and transition schemes, videos and sounds to present our material, be it a report of data or a chart or pictures.

No these programs are not interchangeable. A file created by any of these programs has an extension which describes what kind of file it is. e.g. .doc for word, .xls for excel and .ppt for power point. trying to open a file through other program will result in error. Word is a word processing program to write papers and documents etc. Excel is for creating spread sheets and analyzing the data that you enter into these spreadsheets. Powerpoint is for creating presentations in a sort of virtual slide show format. These programs are not really interchangeable but you can add excel spreadsheets as a visual to your power-point presentations and to word documents but you cannot do much more than display the data as reference. What are the similarities of Ms Word and Excel? each one is different and has different functions.

Word is a word processor. letters, reports etc, like a typewriter that does ALOT more

Excel is a spreadsheet program, charts, calulations, etc, Graphs,

Powerpoint is strictly for presentations, and slide shows.

if you want to check out a free version, check out openoffice.org.

Interchangeable? no. but you can import charts, graphs, or wording eciting from one program into another as you get mroe advanced with using it, for instance you can type up a doc in word, use excel to import charts or spreadsheets onto that doc you just typed, then present it all through powerpoint as a slide presentation.

Make sense?
Each program has its own specific use, you can import saved .doc files (word) in to excel and vise versa .xls files (excel) into word. Powerpoint is a powerful tool for presentation. You may have seen a presentation with a whiteboard and a laptop, digital version of the overhead projector
