MS Outlook Email vs. other types of email: What does Outlook do that is so much better?

I have and do work with several different types of email systems, but many employers make a point to state they are looking for someone to have Outlook knowledge, when recruiting.

The ONLY advantage to outlook is interoffice communications. For the average user, its too dangerous. You dont have a choice in what you download to your pc, the server dumps all the mail on your computer the minute you open outlook. Web based e mail is much safer. Your mail is stored on the server until you opt to download it.
