What is the difference between Ms and Miss?

In the female status abbreviation, you have Ms, Mrs, and Miss. Now, besides the spelling, what is the differencee in MEANING between Ms and Miss? What is the difference between Ms and Miss?
Women are getting more independent in these modern days so "Miss" means the woman is single, and "Ms." could be a single woman or a married woman. If you were to send a letter to someone and you weren't sure if the woman was married or not you would put "Ms. Smith." Also, some women today are also keeping their surnames after marriage (go by their surname and not their husbands last name) while others will link their surname with that of their new husbands. Eg: Her name is Smith and his is Johnson, so she'd go by "Mary Smith-Johnson." Some women will do this especially if they are in business.

"Miss" and "Mrs" are both contractions of "Mistress". "Ms", pronounced "mizz", appeared in the early 20th century as further contraction of both titles which is independent of marital status.
Good to know :)

Thank you :)

What is the difference between Ms and Miss?
Miss is an unmarried woman

MZ started being pushed and persued (in my lifes eye) in the 70's and was often used around where you saw womans lib movements and propaganda. Their view was that A woman did not have to conform to society labels that stated she was or was not unattached as this was a one sided invasion as this practice was not applied to men.

There were some views that this was a planned movement to further subjicate male advancements towards women in workplaces, on the street, etc. I saw it as a defined line, did not speculate on the drutheres. I figured they could say they were cottage cheese if they liked.
Mrs = married and proud

Miss = unmarried and proud

Ms = 1) I don't want you to know whether or not I'm married.

OR 2) I'm divorced.

Ms is basically a general term - you know, the way that men have "Mr"?? I mean, you can't tell whether or not a guy is married, can you? lolWhat is the difference between Ms and Miss?
Mrs. is used for women who are married.

Miss is used for women who are not married.

Ms. is used for women if you don't know whether they're married or not.

At least those are the rules I was taught.
Miss is for young women, who you know are not married. You use Ms. for older women or if your not sure if they are married or not. I only use Mrs. when i know someone is married.
its generally used when the addresser either is unsure of the woman's marital status or a divorced woman who goes back to her old (maiden) name
ms is when you do not want to reveal your martial status.

miss is when you are not married

What is the difference between MS/PhD and PhD course?

I plan to apply for UCB grad school.

In my department, there is MS/PhD and PhD course.

What is the difference between MS/PhD and PhD course? What is the difference between MS/PhD and PhD course?
MS/PhD means you're enrolling in a PhD program and will earn a masters en route. PhD means you've already got a masters and are just doing the PhD.What is the difference between MS/PhD and PhD course?
MS stands for master of science (I think) PhD is doctor of philosophy. MS is a lower level degree compared to PhD, but I think if you don't have a master's degree, it will be difficult (if not impossible) to enter into a PhD program. So the MS/PhD course is 2 degrees, and most likely takes more time and costs more money. Do you have a master's degree? Depending on whether or not they accept your masters, you may or may not be able to enter their PhD course. Otherwise do the MS/PhD course. What is the difference between MS/PhD and PhD course?

What's the fastest way to add all the email addresses in the Inbox to MS Outlook Contacts?

I have thousands of emails and I don't have time to add all the senders' email addresses to Contacts one by one. Is there a shortcut? Using MS Outlook 2002.

Thanks in advance for your help :)What's the fastest way to add all the email addresses in the Inbox to MS Outlook Contacts?
If adding means copying something in and making it proper -- you are out of luck

If you want them in your address book and they have properly formed names

open the email, double click on the address, the contact will open (or you can add it) and click "save"

Its then added. Problems arise when you end up with someone who's just "bif@gojonet.com" that's what you'll get when you search your contacts for her ailias, "mary smith"

Need some help understanding MS? How often are the flare ups and how does it get diagnosed?

I had an MRI done early February due to neck and arm pain. That was of the brain and showed no lesions. Since that MRI ..I had a major flare of pain all over and all kinds of symptoms that go along with MS. My vision got blurry and nlood pressure raised. I was a real mess. I was told by the neurologist that since that MRI was negative there is no chance I have MS. I had those symptoms for a few weeks and now I am better. It's really weird how it all went away. Except for the vision part...I still have blurry and distorted vision. Flourescent light drives me nuts!

I am quite concerned as to whether the neurologist could be wrong. I was also told it could possibly be lupus but all the blood work came back negative.

I'm wondering if some of you might be able to help me and guide me in a direction. I am seeing a rheumatologist tomorrow but not sure that's the right doctor to see. What other tests need to be done and who orders them?Need some help understanding MS? How often are the flare ups and how does it get diagnosed?
EXCELLENT QUESTION!!

There are basically 2 "OBJECTIVE" tests commonly used to diagnose MS: the MRI, and the Spinal Tap.

There are, however, many other neurological tests used to document the SYMPTOMS of MS. So, it is important to document your various symptoms, because that can help your doctor(s) determine if what you have is MS or any number of other SIMILAR autoimmund diseases.

As "disabilitylady" I speak from experience and expertise as someone who has been successfully managing the myriad symptoms of MS for over 45 years.

An excellent resource about MS and other autoimmune diseasess is the "virtual village" link at: http://www.butyoudontlooksick.com

Check out the Message Boards link; I'm the Moderator for the MS Forum, where you'll find lots of info about MS, including a link to what the basic MS diagnostic tools are. Also, check out the other disease-specific info in other Forums.

Now, some basic info about MS:

1) MS is an autoimmune disease where one's own immune system attacks the mylin sheath of the nerves, causing resulting "symptoms" in the part of the body "serviced" by those nerves.

2) There are 4 basic types of MS. The first 2 are what most people have, and is called Relapsing/Remitting (R/R) MS - in either the benign or more aggressive state. In this type of MS, the person will have what are called "exacerbations" - read attacks - and then be "ok" for extended periods of time. In most cases, an MRI and/or a spinal tap will show the lesions on the brain or spinal column; then, the doctors can aggressively treat the symptoms with medications like steriods and what we call the "ABC drugs" (Avonex, Beteserone, and Copaxine). The ABC drugs are shots of what is basically interferon.

If caught early enough, these medical interventions have shown EXCELLENT progress in stopping the rate of progress of this disease.

Interestingly enough, many people can experience one or two exacerbations and then go for decades with none!!!

3) The last two types are more difficult: primary progressive (PP) and secondary progressive. In secondary progressive (SP), you have people like me who started out with R/R, and then "progressed" into SP.

In the case of PP or SP, the exacerbations are frequent, and become actual symptoms that do not go into remission like they did in R/R. Symptoms are like your friend's problems with sight and hearing.

The ABC drugs and some others are being used to treat the PP type of MS; there are no current effective treatments to "stop the progression" of SP; we can only "manage the symptoms".

For more information about the specific symptoms of MS, you can use any Internet search engine and plug in the words MS symptoms. You'll find TONS of information.

For information from someone who has the disease, please check out my website: http://www.disabilitykey.com. I have 2 blogs there, each containing tons of information. AND, I'm an expert on applying for, and attaining disability insurances!! It is my passion and mission to assist others with disabilities.

So, bottomline, sstart journaling your symtoms to share with your drs. Check out the references I've provided to you. Ask me further questions by clicking onto my Yahoo name!!

What exams i need to qualify for ms?

And is it necessary to have a job experience to get a job after that,or having a job experience is preferred while placement?

If yes,how many years job ex is needed?

please provide valuable answer. What should i do to appear as a student for ms in computer science in usa? And what are the criteria required?
You will have to take the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) which is a standardized entrance exam, and the TOEFL, which is an English language proficiency test. Your scores on these exams are very important, especially since you are not a native English speaker, start working on studying for these now. As far as entrance, schools in America are not regulated by the government, so they are all different and will have different qualifications, the better the school, the higher the requirements will be. But your academic transcripts are a large part of their decision, they will evaluate your grades in each of your courses and judge you from there. As far as employment, the economy in America is very, very bad now. So the chance that you will be able to stay here after you graduate is very slim (the average search time for a job is a year, and you cannot stay very long on a student VISA after you graduate). As far as experience goes they usually want 2-5 years of it, so it is very hard for new graduates to find employment.

  • How do I change ID numbers in MS Access 2007?

For a college assignment, I'm currently creating a database in MS Access to be used in a Veterinary Surgery. I know how to put in the fields, text type, know how to change the fields etc. But what I want to know is how to change the ID field so that it starts at 1001 instead of 1. Can anyone help? How do I change ID numbers in MS Access 2007?
In design view, click on the ID field, then down the bottom to the format row. type 1000 then switch view back to datasheet view and save table as prompted. Your autonumbers will now become 1001 onwards. How do I change ID numbers in MS Access 2007?
Best way to do this would be to create a query

Use this in the in the field line of the query

Replace id with your ID field name

    Format([id],"1000")

Add any other fields to the query that you need for your form

Now just use this query as the record source to your form.

    Hope this helps

For a new table that contains no records, you can change the starting value of an AutoNumber (AutoNumber data type: In a Microsoft Access database, a field data type that automatically stores a unique number for each record as it's added to a table. Three kinds of numbers can be generated: sequential, random, and Replication ID.) field whose NewValues property is set to Increment to a number other than 1. For a table that contains records, you can also use this procedure to change the next value assigned in an AutoNumber field to a new number.

If your original table contains property settings that prevent Null (Null: A value you can enter in a field or use in expressions or queries to indicate missing or unknown data. In Visual Basic, the Null keyword indicates a Null value. Some fields, such as primary key fields, can't contain Null.) values in fields, you must temporarily change those properties. These settings include:

The Required field property set to Yes

The Indexed field property set to Yes (No Duplicates)

A field and/or record ValidationRule property that prevents Null values in fields

Create a temporary table with just one field: a Number field. Set its FieldSize property to Long Integer and give it the same name as the AutoNumber field in the table whose value you want to change.

In Datasheet view (Datasheet view: A window that displays data from a table, form, query, view, or stored procedure in a row-and-column format. In Datasheet view, you can edit fields, add and delete data, and search for data.), enter a value in the Number field of the temporary table that is one (1) less than the starting value you want for the AutoNumber field. For example, if you want the AutoNumber field to start at 100, enter 99 in the Number field.

Create and run an append query (append query: An action query that adds the records in a query's result set to the end of an existing table.) to append the temporary table to the table whose AutoNumber value you want to change.

Create a query that contains the table whose records you want to append to another table.

    How?

In the Database window (Database window: The window that appears when you open an Access database or an Access project. It displays shortcuts for creating new database objects and opening existing objects.), click Queries under Objects, and then click New on the Database window toolbar.

In the New Query dialog box, click Design View, and then click OK.

In the Show Table dialog box, click the tab that lists the tables or queries whose data you want to work with.

Double-click the name of each object you want to add to the query, and then click Close.

Add fields to the Field row in the design grid (design grid: The grid that you use to design a query or filter in query Design view or in the Advanced Filter/Sort window. For queries, this grid was formerly known as the QBE grid.), and if you want, specify criteria (criteria: Conditions you specify to limit which records are included in the result set of a query or filter.) and a sort order.

To view the query's results, click View on the toolbar.

In query Design view (Design view: A window that shows the design of these database objects: tables, queries, forms, reports, macros, and data access pages. In Design view, you can create new database objects and modify the design of existing ones.), click the arrow next to Query Type on the toolbar, and then click Append. The Append dialog box appears.

In the Table Name box, enter the name of the table you want to append records to.

    Do one of the following:

If the table is in the currently open database, click Current Database.

If the table is not in the currently open database, click Another Database and type the path of the database where the table is stored or click Browse to locate the database. You can also specify a path to a Microsoft FoxPro, Paradox, or dBASE database, or a connection string to an SQL database (SQL database: A database that is based on Structured Query Language (SQL).).

    Click OK.

Drag from the field list (field list: A window that lists all the fields in the underlying record source or database object, except in data access page Design view. In data access page Design view, it lists all the record sources and their fields in the underlying database.) to the query design grid (design grid: The grid that you use to design a query or filter in query Design view or in the Advanced Filter/Sort window. For queries, this grid was formerly known as the QBE grid.) the fields you want to append and any fields you want to use for setting criteria.

If all the fields in both tables have the same names, you can just drag the asterisk (*) to the query design grid. However, if you're working in a database replica (replica: A copy of a database that is a member of a replica set and can be synchronized with other replicas in the set. There are a ton of sites to test your knowledge. I studied for all of those boring tests and took them all - it's a lot of work but you get 'certified' and it tells the company a lot. Right now, i'm at home with my two toddlers. I would love to get back in the corporate world and have some type of flexibility so i can be with my family more. What administrative types of positions are offered to people with an MS degree in Agribusiness Management?
If you have the skills that the company needs, you should be able to get a job anywhere that has an administrative position available if you can convince them that you are the best person for the job. The difficulty you might have is with "flexibility". Most businesses have set hours that you would need to work. You might be fortunate enough to work a deal with a local business for flexible hours.

    Some businesses you might consider:

    You local ag extension office

Local college or university (especially in the Ag department)

    USDA

    Manufacturing companies

    Feedlots

    Seed companies

Assistant to a cotton ( or other commodity) broker

The first four will be more difficult to work a flexible schedule.

Temporary work through a temporary/personnel agency might be an option. It might be more flexible.

    Good luck.

My dilemma is that I would like to do my MS is computer science outside India (mostly US), but wouldn't really want to work outside India for long. Now what sort of jobs can I expect when I come back to India? Does it justify the huge costs incurred in doing the course? What are your thoughts? Is it worthwhile doing MS outside India and then coming back to India to work?
Well.. I will suggest to work their for atleast 2 years. Collect some bucks and then come back to India.

Well.. you have option to work their in US as you are completing your MS. The same collage / university gives u the option to work.

Yes, it is worthwhile. Your country needs you. Why contribute to the brain drain?

Another question: who paid those huge costs? Your parents? Then you should consult them about this decision. They have a right to some input about whether the cost is justified. see it is better if you gain some money before you come back in india also the cost required for MS in first year is 10 lakh almost but in the second year you are able to earn some money from part time job so dont worry about financial aid it willl better if you go US for MS

What is the disadvantage of using MS Excel to make a web page?

I want to make a website for my small company. I know how to use MS excel.

The page must load quickly and I need to modify it regulary.

Is MS excel a good tool to do this with?

Thanks in advance for any answers. What is the disadvantage of using MS Excel to make a web page?
Probably the main drawback to using Excel is that Microsoft puts in very propietary code into the pages. Most good quality site development programs, like dreamweaver, have specific tools to strip out this code. It causes problems on other browsers like firefox.

Other issues are general design issues like placing things in appropriate spots, etc. Also, management of these sites would be a nightmare.

If you want to develop a good looking site that you can update, try a developer. For example, I could design a great looking website in a couple days that would allow you to make updates with no design or development experience whatsoever for under $500 - $600, including hosting. I've been doing it as my sole income for over 10 years. You can see over 30 designs I have done at my website, http://www.mainemediagroup.com

Good luck whatever you choose. What is the disadvantage of using MS Excel to make a web page?
Excel probably won't make a very good web page I'm afraid. You might be better finding a web host that offers a site builder package or content management package or design package like serif webplus as part of the hosting. If you can use Word to make a document you can make a webpage using these and it'll be much better than the excel export function.

Better yet there are quite a few hosting companies offering these as standard for small business sites. What is the disadvantage of using MS Excel to make a web page?
Excel has many great features but also some drawbacks. You may have issues with creating .htm files from multiple sheets in a single workbook. Also, you have limited control over normal html settings. But if it's just for your compny's internal use it should be OK. Plus, you can offer Excel-like functionalities which are difficult to build from scratch.
I would not recommend using Excel to do websites. The HTML export feature in Excel I think is mainly there so you can export your spreadsheets.

If you're not comfortable with actually coding HTML, Word might be a better choice than Excel without going into fully featured software applications. You might also be able to find some free editors online.

I am leaving my job in July and have MS. My company does not offer COBRA. I will be back on the same insurance that I am leaving when I get married in less than a year. Is there any insurance company I could pick up that would cover me?What individual insurance company would cover me with pre-existing MS?
It depends upon where you live. In my state all insurance companies will decline MS on their regular plans. However, many companies do offer portability plans. You must get on a portability plan within 63 days of loosing your group coverage. Government regulations do guarantee you a policy but it doesn't guarantee premium. Portability plans that I have sold range from $1050 to $2700 per month depending upon health conditions. Some states will also have high risk pool policies that you can get. However, the premium with these plans are also around $1000 per month and many states have a waiting list of up to 6 months before you can get the plan. What individual insurance company would cover me with pre-existing MS?

What is the best field I can take my MS?

I had finished my school in Mechanical Engineering in 1983, and I had worked in one field since.

I am thinking to go back to school for MS.

What is the best field I can pick for more secure future? What is the best field I can take my MS?
I currently have a Diploma in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

I mainly get to use my electrical engineering skills the most. So as someone with some experience, I would suggest something in an electrical field, either electronic {alarm systems, electronic systems for access control e.g. finger print, I.D. card readers} or something in the heavy current industry{Electrical installations or maintenance of industrial and engineering shops} that is where the most money is.

I am sure you might find a course that would fit your choice.

I hope I have given you some idea where to go from here. What is the best field I can take my MS?

What other diseases is associated with demyelinating disease besides MS?

I had a MRI done where they found demyelinating disease and thinks that it's multiple sclerosis I have several of the symptoms for MS I have to get a spinal tap done. What other diseases is associated with demyelinating disease besides MS?
Besides MS, there are several other demyelinating diseases, such as the leukodystrophies (Adrenoleukodystrophy, Canavan Disease, Krabbe Disease, Pelizaeus-Merzbacher Disease, Cockayne Syndrome, and Alexander's Disease), Marchiafava-Bignami Disease, Central pontine myelinolysis, and Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML). Among other things, the spinal tap will help to rule out some of the other demyelinating diseases. Some of these are fairly unlikely (for example, Adrenoleukodystrophy occurs when more than 90% of the adrenal cortex is destroyed, and is a very rare condition, so you'd likely have far more symptoms without a functioning adrenal cortex).

The "white spots" visible on an MRI are generally pretty specific for MS; in other words, for certain white spot patterns, only MS produces such patterns on an MRI. That, along with the other tests (blood tests and lumbar puncture) can rule out the other causes of white spots on an MRI.

The referenced site has loads of (mostly medical) information about all of these diseases, but it may be helpful to you. You can look up each disease individually and find some information on them.

    Good luck.

What quality is lost when you save a jpeg file using MS Paint?

I tried opening an existing jpeg file which has a file size of 4 kb using MS Paint. Then I just save it using MS Paint and the size decreases to 900 kb. I compared the quality of the previous and the new file and I can not distinguish any difference. What quality is lost when you save a jpeg file using MS Paint?
That's what jpeg was design for. It's an advance compression format that has small size while still retaining 99% of the original quality.

How can the size decrease from 4 kb to 900 kb? Sounds like a 225% increase in size to me.

Anyway, Microsoft's JPEG implementation results in a LARGE amount of quality loss. I'd recommended editing files in a more capable editor such as Photoshop or GIMP (which is free), both of which properly use the JPEG format. What quality is lost when you save a jpeg file using MS Paint?
Try saving a colorful, detailed image as a .bmp file in Paint. Then save it again as a .jpg. Close and reopen it, and it looks washed out and grainy.

Maybe going from 4 kb to 900 bytes (I assume your file didn't go UP in bytes) isn'r enough of a jump to notice, but going from, say, 200 kb to 40 kb really shows it.
MS paint version of the jpeg picture is a little bit grainy, and doesn't look smooth as the original version of a picture. What quality is lost when you save a jpeg file using MS Paint?
Use .png instead, no quality is lost at all.

What is the life expectancy for someone with ms?

I have a friend who has MS and it looks to be agressive. I am just wondering what average life expectancy is?What is the life expectancy for someone with ms?
with ms, you can expect a normal life span. if you have relapsing-remitting, you can go a short time to a few years between relapses. if you have secondary progressive, will have symptoms that stay with you after each relapse. primary progressive is where the symptoms get progressively worse. it's a sucky disease and affects everyone differently. my sister was diagnosed due to optic neuritis (she started to lose vision in one eye) and i was diagnosed a few month later due to numbness and tingling in my lower body. fortunately for me, i have not had another relapse since (1.5 years ago) and my sister had to go on short term from work for 3 months because of one. it all just depends. but either way, we will live out a full, albeit challenging, life.
Although the life expectancy for someone with multiple sclerosis is not quite as long as an otherwise 'normal' individual, it is very nearly the same and the gap is growing increasingly shorter

This said I don't know about the Quality of the health care your friends mother is receiving but I would say that is is very important to have the top of the line...My mother was diagnosed with ms 25 years ago she has excellent health insurance and is constantly trying new treatments and therapies yet my aunt is on state funded health care and her disease seems to have progressed further than my mother in a shorter time spanWhat is the life expectancy for someone with ms?
    Life Expectancy with Multiple Sclerosis

Life expectancy for people who have multiple sclerosis is growing longer with every passing year, particularly with the advancement of medical science, new drugs and better care and understanding of the disease.

Although the life expectancy for someone with multiple sclerosis is not quite as long as an otherwise 'normal' individual, it is very nearly the same and the gap is growing increasingly shorter.

In 1936, only 8% of patients were reported to survive beyond 20 years after onset of illness

In 1961, over 80% of Multiple Sclerosis patients were reported surviving to 20 years after onset of illness

2002 鈥?A patient with Multiple Sclerosis can expect to live to average population life-expectancy minus seven years (mean life expectancy - 7 years)
for a women (which is a ms), it is 3 years longer than the average life expectancy of men. What is the life expectancy for someone with ms?
MS is a life-long disease. The life expectancy can be pretty close to normal, if medical complications (such as infections of the bladder, pneumonia, bedsores) can be avoided. It is important to keep the joints moving and to be as active as possible. Available medications can reduce the frequency of relapses and perhaps slow the progression of the disease to some extent.

  • How to promote a paperless environment with Ms OneNote?

I am doing a project on trying to save the environment by cutting down on paper usage. I am a student at a University and i am trying to influence people to use MS OneNote. What is a good way to get people to use this program? How do i get people to act now on the environment? Thanks for all your answersHow to promote a paperless environment with Ms OneNote?
I actually do not like Microsoft OneNote because it is not a program that has been widely adopted at my large public university. It is not in the computer labs and it costs too much money to purchase the software.

To encourage people to use the program, have it widely available for free or at a reduced cost.

Also encourage institutions as a whole to make the software available at computer labs.

The most important way to encourage people to use MS OneNote? Make sure every student has a laptop that they can take to class with them.
I think people should use more paper. i waste as much of it as i possibly can. then again, i'm from maine which depends heavily on paper mills. remember every time you save a tree you kill a woodsman and starve his family. How to promote a paperless environment with Ms OneNote?
You won't have much success as long as your solution requires using only one specific software program, especially one from a company so many people despise. Why not encourage professors to ask their students to submit all papers electronically? That would save tons of paper, and it might influence others to find other ways to save.
Cutting down on paper use is just one of many ways to help the environment, don't lose this perspective or you'll only sound like a nut. Bear in mind that it is alot easier to read a paper copy, which is why the lecturers want it this format.

Lead by example and don't be shy about it.

.How to promote a paperless environment with Ms OneNote?
Hard copy paper is definately more widely accepted than any electronic format...and lets face it, some people still hate computers.

What's the difference between an MS and DPT degree in physical therapy?

In about a year or so, I'm going to be applying to physical therapy schools... but I don't know the difference in an MS or DPT degree? I know they're both entry-level, but what is the difference? Is there a "better" degree? What's the difference between an MS and DPT degree in physical therapy?
Some schools are different but in general it breaks down as follows...

PTA - Physical Therapy Assistant = 2 yr degree

PT - Physical Therapist = 4 yr degree

MPT (MS) - Masters Degree in Physical Therapy = 4 yr + 2 yrs grad school

DPT - Doctor of Physical Therapy = 4 yrs + 3-4 yrs grad school

Hope that helps. What's the difference between an MS and DPT degree in physical therapy?
If you are not already in a PT program, count on most likely getting a DPT. Last time I checked, there were only about 6 programs in the US (most in California) that offered the MPT degree. The difference is that the DPT level graduate is better prepared to practice as a direct access provider (meaning you can see a patient without referral from a physician). There is a greater focus in medical screening and examination to better understand what needs to be referred back to a physician.

The DPT doesn't result in any more money, but it results in you better a more solid practicioner. However, nearly all PT programs are now doctorate. Like what happened to the BS in PT back in 2002, the MPT is being phased out and will no longer exist in a few years.

Is it advantageous to get MS Physics and MS Computer Science?

I am a BS Applied Physics student from the Philippines. I am thinking of getting two masters degree after i graduate, MS Physics and MS Computer Science. Is it possible? What are the advantages of getting two degrees?

Would getting masters degree and working experience land me a high paying and ranking job in the industry? Is it advantageous to get MS Physics and MS Computer Science?
Well yes a combination of experience and a Masters will get you a good paying job, so long as your a hard worker and earn it.. Having 2 different Masters will just broaden what your able to do, you could choose one career or the other really. Plus in computer programming theres a lot of math involved, so all the Physics/math classes will help with that too. With a combination of Physics and Computer Science degrees I imagine you could get into some kind of IT engineering or development, like designing components and programs. But again you also need good experience to back yourself up, or good research and project work from school.

What percentage of the world do you think uses MS Office and OpenOffice respectively, and why?

I'm trying to decide which one to use - obviously OpenOffice is free, but MS Office is more familiar, I'm used to it....

In what percentage do you think the world is divided between the two - which one is used the most?

If someone sends me something in MS Word 2007 will I be able to view it in OpenOffice? And vice versa? What percentage of the world do you think uses MS Office and OpenOffice respectively, and why?
Of those who use and office program, probably 98% MS Office and 1.999% Open Office (there are a few others).

Why? Stupidity. Open Office can not only handle all the file types MS office can (so, yes, you can read and write MS Office files in OO), I've found spreadsheets (xls files) that Excel couldn't handle until I opened them inn Calc and resaved them. But some people would rather believe commercials and "instant experts" (people who have a simple answer immediately, even if it's completely wrong) than listen to people who actually know what they're talking about.

And, as in your case, people get MS Office for free (for a short time), so it's uncomfortable to switch gears to OO. (But try switching from MS Office 2003 to 2007. Switching to OO is easier.)

I have both installed. OO to use, and MS (2003 and 2007) to help people asking questions about them. What percentage of the world do you think uses MS Office and OpenOffice respectively, and why?

  • What is MS and how can you get nerve damage?

My new girlfriend told me she has MS and nerve damage and she was in a lot of pain.I don't know what either mean especially MS.I want to make sure its not a disease so I won't be harm for something or catch something. How can you get nerve damage and what does it do to you? What is MS and how can you get nerve damage?
MS is an autoimmune disease. The exact cause is not known. It is believed that your body's own immune cells enter the CNS and start eating away at the myelin. Myelin is important for nerve conduction. If all the myelin of a nerve gets eaten away, then the axon of the nerve loses its integrity, and eventually that nerve can die. If a nerve dies, all of its memory is lost too.

People with MS often have the following symptoms:

Fatigue- You are trying to do a basic task. Its like you are trying to go 120 mph, but yet you only end up going 40 mph.

Bladder problems- Nerves that innervate the bladder are controlled in the CNS. If the myelin of these nerves gets attacked, then bladder problems can result.

Neuropathic pain- your body is eating away @ the nerves--thus causing pain

Cognitive problems- like i said, if nerve cells die , you lose that memory

It is not contagiuous. There is treatment for MS but there is not a cure. It slows the progression down. What is MS and how can you get nerve damage?
There is speculation that the body sees the shell of the wheat protein as a foreign substance and sets up a reaction against it, and in the process attacks a similar protein in the sheath around the nerves.

I have a story to tell. In the 1980's, they were giving out a narcotics rehab drug called Revia, as a condition for narcotics addicts to be out of jail. But it made them feel terrible. Because it bound up the little endorphin supply they had as part of the way it worked.

A New York neurologist found that if you gave them less than a tenth of the dose, at bedtime. the body "sees" the level of endorphins at zero, and brings the level way up. So the addicts were feeling excellent in the morning, without the need for a 'fix'.

One day, a lady with MS came to him as a new patient. She was telling him about muscle spasticity, transient blindness, dropping things, feeling crummy in the morning, etc.

He asked her if she would be willing to try the dose schedule that was helping the addicts feel better in the morning. Sure, she said.

Few weeks later, she came back in and told how she was indeed feeling better in the morning. AND HER MS SYMPTOMS WERE GOING AWAY.

Ever hear of the book "The Caine Mutiny"? Son of the author, Joseph Wouk, had his left arm totally numb. They found that he had the worst kind of MS, he got into a study group, and now he has full use of that arm.

Enough of that. A Youtube website for you and your girlfriend. It's the first part of a 30 minute commentary that may be of value to you both. What is MS and how can you get nerve damage?
MS stands for Multiple Sclerosis which is a chronic disorder where the central nervous system gets attacked. Symptoms can be mild(i.e. numb limbs) or severe(i.e.loss of vision). Since the central nervous system is located in the brain and spinal cord does this condition affect many areas of the body.
I have 2 friends who live with MS--one got hearing problems, the other got problems with her bones and muscles, but both are able to live a fairly normal life. One is married and had 3 children, all of them healthy, she also got granbdchildren now. So MS is not some contagious disease or STD it is an illness where the body or immune system attacks the central nervous system.
Besides answering your question did I go online and found a website that might be helpful to you. I also have a suggestion for your girlfriend: tell her to start taking Marine Phytoplankton daily. It is not very expensive and in time it actually improves the quality of life. It has many benefits and since it is an all natural super food will it not interfer with any medication. It also contains only trace amounts of the vitamins A-K, so there should not be any worry about taking any supplements in addition. You can get it at amazon for a decent price(UMAC-Core). I know several people with various health issues, including cancer issues who have experienced so many good things by taking it that they told me that's what they needed all their life. Since MS is a chronic condition would I not expect it to be :cured", but I can guarantee you that the flare ups of this disease will be a lot less--however, you have to realize that since it is a natural product it will take time. It improved my vision after approx. 12 months of taking it, but it also took care of other issues way before that.......

What do I have to add to a table in MS Access so that an unique picture is associated with each record?

I have created a table of employees in a MS Access database. The fields include: ID, Name, and Employment Status. What type of field to I have to add to this table so that an unique photograph of each employer is associated with that employee when a form is created from this table. In other words, I want to be able to access the employee record through a form which also displays the employee's photograph. What do I have to add to a table in MS Access so that an unique picture is associated with each record?
Store the photograph on the hard drive in a seperate folder, store the path to the photograph in your database.

The tab key is used to make the cursor go to wherever you want on the line. This eliminates using multiple spaces, and prevents uneven spacing. Read the Word help, there are settings available to control how far each press goes. It is very useful if you regularly type similar letters or other documents, you can set up tab spacing in the template for the document and each time you use it the documents will all space the same.Application opened in ms word what is process going on when we hit tab key as the cursor moving a bit?

My daughter entered middle school this year and is being asked to type reports for the first time. What grade would a student be able to be to qualify for the academic edition of MS Office? How old does a student have to be to qualify for the academic edition of MS Office software?
there really is no age requirement. Anyone who is under 18 is automaticly eligible, after that you may need to prove your a student but probally not. I think it puts a line at the bottom of the printed pages that says "student version"

You may want to check out open office, its free and will work great for your daughter's school reports.

How important is it to know oracle and MS SQL Server?

I'm a Information System major and want to know if it's important to know Oracle and MS SQL Server ? If so, why and what books can u suggest?

Are they easy to learn? How important is it to know oracle and MS SQL Server?
It is important to at least know SQL to the bare minimum of how to formulate a query and do simple joins...relational databases are almost univerally used in applications these days and anyone intending to do anything significant in IT must know how to work with them. As to a specific DBMS such as Oracle or SQL Server, that's less clear-cut...it can't hurt to have at least passing familiarity with the major ones, but it really depends on what your target company uses. How important is it to know oracle and MS SQL Server?
Learn SQL, the Structured Query Language used in all SQL based database systems.

You can start out with one of the database RMS, Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, etc. It doesn't really matter which unless you want to certify in one.

Once you learn the basics of SQL and how to administer an SQL DRMS, you'll know about 80% of all the SQL varieties. Then you can more easily pick up the differences between Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL.

I'm making a wild guess that you are looking at non-printing characters. Look for an icon on your toolbars that looks similar to a back-to-front capital P and click it. See if they go away.

    EDIT:

Been looking around for a good picture to give you a link to but I can't find any that show the toolbar button. This is the symbol I mean (if it shows properly...):

It's normally on the Standard toolbar, just before the drop-down arrow that lets you choose if you have the page at 100% or show two pages at once, etc. But it's looking like that might not have been standard in Word 2003.

If you can't see it, go to the Tools menu and then Options. On the View tab, look for formatting marks and make sure all the options are unticked.

What is the cost of doing MS in Germany in the field of electronics?

I am an electronics student pursuing my final semester in India (andhra pradesh) . I am planning to do MS in Germany, so I like to know the details like -

1)what is the cost of the course (electronics)

2)cost of living there %26amp; other such expenditures

    3) if funding is available, what are the requirements I should fulfill

4)do i need to learn German language, if

    necessary to what extent

5)what are the job opportunities after I get

    completing the course

6)please mention some good universities where there i can get intoWhat is the cost of doing MS in Germany in the field of electronics?
1). It depends. But nowadays for most of the German government universities you don't have to pay tuition fees, there you have to pay only the registration fees, it's about 300Euro per semester, there're two semesters per year. But remember, it's not universal, there're universities that have tuition fees as well. You'll have to check the official website of your desired university.

2). For any foreign student the amount is around 650Euro per month, it's defined by the office for foreigners (Ausl盲nderamt).

3). You've very little possibility for that, unless you get any scholarship. Prerequisites: Extraordinary results, extracurricular activities...

4). It depends on universities. If your desired university offers your desired course in English, you'll only need either TOEFL/IELTS/eqiv., but if your desired university offers your desired course in German, you must pass the DSH exam or TestDaF exam to study there.

5). If you complete your MS with good results, job availability is good in technological fields.

6). RWTH Aachen, TU M眉nchen, TU Darmstad, TU Berlin, TU Dresden, Uni Karlsruhe, Uni Stuttgart, Uni Hannover etc...What is the cost of doing MS in Germany in the field of electronics?
The German MA in Electronic Engineering has an enviable global reputation, providing great job opportunities in German and abroad. Because of close links to German industry, students tend tend to have a job offer before graduation. University fees are from nil to 鈧?000 per year (max.), though higher fees will apply if you are not an EU citizen. The cost of living in Germany is about 700 Euros a months (rent and life is cheaper than in the UK or France).

Some universities teach Master courses in English, check the global University Directory to choose the right university.

What is the difference beteween an MS degree in Biology and an MA degree in Biology?

I am looking to go to Grad school to get my master's in Biology. However, I have been looking at different schools and notice that some schools offer an MS in Biology, while others offer an MA in Biology. I am confused... Is there any difference between the 2, or are they basically the same degree with different names? What is the difference beteween an MS degree in Biology and an MA degree in Biology?
As biology is science, MS seems more appropriate but they should be equivalent. Better ask the schools.

Good luck! What is the difference beteween an MS degree in Biology and an MA degree in Biology?
Basically they're the same; they will only differ in the number and type of units you will earn. An M.S. stands for Master of Science will M.A. stands for Master of Arts. What is the difference beteween an MS degree in Biology and an MA degree in Biology?
I don't know about masters...but my college gave out a BA and a BS in biology. The BA was less credits than the BS. There was nothing wrong with choosing one of the other but depending on what field you wanted to pursue you were prompted to choose one or the other. I don't really know how having one or the other would affect you in your career choices since as a teacher the state just wants me certified. Maybe the two degrees are different credit amounts.

What is the difference between the MS drugs Avonex and Copaxone?

My son has been taking Avonex for his MS for 3 years now. He has had 3 episodes where he has had to be admitted to the hospital for IV therapy. I noticed that a couple of yahoo members are taking Copaxone and have been on it for 4 years symptom-free. I was wondering if maybe my son should change medications. Another reason for changing is this - after each injection, he gets very ill with a 104 degree fever and flu like symptoms, which last for about 24 hours. We have talked to his doctor about this and he said some people just get sick after their injections. He tried to give him 2 or 3 different medicatoins, hoping they would help with the sick feeling, but none of them worked. Has anyone on the Copaxone ever gotten sick after their injections? I would appreciate everyone who has been on Avonex or Copaxone helping me. My son really needs the help. What is the difference between the MS drugs Avonex and Copaxone?
The main difference between Avonex (interferon beta-1a) and Copaxone (glatiramer acetate for injection) is that Avonex was designed to treat a first MS attack, to slow the accumulation of physical disability and to decrease the clinical worsening in those patients with relapsing forms of MS. Copaxone was designed to reduce the frequency of relapse in those patients with relapsing-remitting MS.

The two drugs share many of the same common adverse reactions - nausea, diarrhea, abdominal upset to name three. Fever is a common adverse effect of Avenox and a less common adverse reaction to Copaxone. Consider that.

Speak to his doctor about the advisability of changing. What is the difference between the MS drugs Avonex and Copaxone?
Please see the web pages for more details on Interferon beta-1a (generic name) Avonex (brand name), Glatiramer (generic name) Copaxone (brand name).

Interferon beta-1a is a drug in the interferon family used to treat multiple sclerosis (MS). It is produced by mammalian cells while Interferon beta-1b is produced in modified E. coli. Interferons have been shown to have about a 30鈥?5% reduction in the rate of MS relapses, and to slow the progression of disability in MS patients. None of the products on the market is a cure, but patients today who start early on Interferons may beneficially alter the natural course of the disease.

Glatiramer is used to reduce episodes of symptoms in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. Glatiramer is in a class of medications called immunomodulators. It works by stopping the body from damaging its own nerve cells (myelin).

A recent study by the Department of Neurology at The University of Texas Health Science Center argues that a double-blind three year study failed to demonstrate a treatment effect of Glatiramer acetate on Primary-Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. What is the difference between the MS drugs Avonex and Copaxone?
My husband and his brother both have MS. They both use Copaxone. My husband hasn't had a flare in over a year, his brother has.

Everyone reacts differently to different drugs. It's something that should be discussed with the neuro.

University fees are from nil to 鈧?000 per year (max.), though higher fees will apply if you are not an EU citizen. The cost of living in Germany is about 700 Euros a months (rent and life is cheaper than in the UK or France).
